    Ban Chang - Phala Beach

Ban Chang is around 45km from Pattaya and has 3 nice beaches, Phayun Beach, Had Nam Rin Beach and Phala Beach, the difference between these and Pattaya Beach is there are crabs on the beach and people fishing from the beach, ie it isn't devoid of sea life unlike Pattaya Beach.

Anyway this is Phala Beach, as you can see it is a weekday so basically deserted, I rate this beach as the second best in Ban Chang, Phayun Beach suffers from rubbish and driftwood being left uncleared, Had Nam Rin is I think the nicest.

Local to Phala Beach are several hotels, resorts and guesthouses, should imagine weekdays they are all pretty empty, weekends and especially long weekends the place gets busy as it isn't too far from Bangkok.

Nice big long empty beach, was a couple of Thai guys using fishing rods to catch some small fishes and that was about it.

A few rock pools to explore.

Some of the Thai restaurants along the beach front, behind them is the road and the other side of the road has plenty of Thai seafood restaurants.

Lino covered table, don't expect crystal wine goblets and fish and chips here, just Thai seafood dishes, when they are open.

That view aint too bad, nice cool breeze aswell.

Driftwood piled up and ready for clearing, I assume this is done by the restaurants on the beach as I should imagine they want their part of the beach to look clean.

I've had some terrific meals there. Great place to spend some time over a leisurely lunch.

Tessaban 25, 3 blocks from Sukhumvit is a fun night-life zone too, at least until Thailand sheds it's image as a sex tourist destination. Wait, Ban Chang should be ok even then; the bars on Tess 25 mostly cater to expats.

The 3 bars there with restaurants: Camel Bar, Rumours and Offshore Bar all have surprisingly excellent food too.

The quickest route if you are driving is head towards Sattahip from Pattaya, turn left towards Silver Lake Vine Yard, at the end of that road turn left then first right, at the end of that road turn right, when you get to the end of that you are back on Sukhumvit Road and in Ban Chang.

The beach bars will serve a drink when the others (camel etc) are closed due to elections, like this weekend.

After your meal, be sure to visit the legendary Jigsaw Bar in downtown B.C.

    It will "blow" you away.
