| Does anyone know if it is tradition for the Government to give His Majesty a birthday present? I saw in recent news reports that General Prem, the head of HM Privy Council, was granted a birthday wish of an army (e.g. 1st army, 2nd army, etc) for the Isaan Region which previously did not have its own dedicated Army like the 1st Army which is dedicated to Bangkok and central regions. Is it common for the government to give 'presents' to Prem and His Majesty? Or no?
