999+99 Monks take part in mass merit-making ceremony in North Pattaya.

[PATTAYA ONE NEWS] :

At 7am on Sunday a religious event took place in front of Pattaya City Hall on the North Pattaya Road which was closed to traffic during the ceremony, participated by 999 + 99 Buddhist Monks.

The event which is being repeated in each of Thailand’s 76 Provinces as part of a program called “Food for 500,000 Monks”, had three objectives, the first was to promote the Buddhist Religion to the people of Pattaya.

It was also organized to celebrate the forthcoming 77th Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen and the food and other provisions collected by the monks during the ceremony will be sent to Temples at the troubled Southern Provinces of Thailand.

The Monks residing at these temples are sometimes unable to leave their temples to collect donations of food and other items from local residents in fear of insurgent attacks.
