Bangkok to turn yellow as tribute to King Bhumibol

BANGKOK, 16 July 2017 (NNT) The governor of Bangkok has invited the general public to decorate buildings with marigolds to show their respects to His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The Governor of Bangkok Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang has said the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is campaigning the general public to decorate their houses and offices with yellow flowers during the royal cremation ceremony of His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej during 25-29 October 2017.

He said the BMA had held a workshop to encourage marigold planting among the general public. The flower takes 55-60 days before it blossoms. The general public can inquire authorities for more information on planting the flower from all staff in Bangkok's public parks.

The BMA is also preparing to plant some 400,000 trees of yellow colored flowers such as marigold, sunflowers, Mexican daisies, trail daisies, and yellow trumpetbushes to decorate the royal crematorium and Bangkok's roads to pay homage to His late Majesty.
