You might like this. This is a fairly old BBC documentary, 1979, but it contains what I think are absolutely unique face-to-face informal interviews with the KIng. NOTE: There is absolutely nothing in this video to offend anybody or which breaches any laws.

I'm not sure the rhetorical questions posed would be seen in that way.

In the village and surroundings where we live life is pretty much unchanged. But in the larger towns and cities like Surin, Buriram, Prasat and Sangkha there is a huge demand for black and white women's apparel. My wife has fashion shops and her stocks have been depleted. Today she drove to Pratunam in Bangkok to buy stock but could not obtain anything in black or white. People are queuing up at 11 pm waiting in front of suppliers who open at 4am. What is available is sold almost immediately and there is a lot of pushing and shoving going on. The apparel business is very good if you can get merchandise to sell.

Me, the wife and baby went to the Royal Thai Embassy (Singapore) on Saturday to pay our respects.
It was quite good, they had someone from the Embassy you could pass your phone to so he could your photo etc.
Channel News Asia were there as well but they picked a lady with a busted leg to talk to instead of us.

Nice afternoon out for me and my daughter anyway while my wife said what she had to say to the King so she was happy too. Win-win.

My neighbours held a party on the Thursday night, although it may well have been some sort of wake.

Lots of people here in Prachuap still wearing black and I saw an elderly guy trudging along the road today with a large portrait of the King strapped to his back.

On the other hand, my Western friend's gf reports that people of her acquaintance are getting bored, and I guess she was talking particularly about the loss of their favourite TV programs.
