Prayut cuts short Chon Buri trip, hurries to Bangkok | Bangkok Post: news

Post this on another thread. Looks like things are serious. As in the other thread, I would advise anyone requiring government type services (immigration etc) and banking to get it done asap. If the inevitable finally happens, I would think the whole country will shut down for quite some time.

Sitting in a taxi yesterday listening to a Thai taxi driver speaking about this subject with a friend on his mobile phone.

I wish The King a speedy recovery and many more years of good health.

All you TEFLers better get your best mourning outfits pressed - you're going to be wearing them for quite a while.

Announcement of the Bureau of the Royal Household on His Majesty’s health condition

    12 Oct 2016 | 21:07

BANGKOK, 12 October 2016 (NNT) - The Bureau of the Royal Household has indicated His Majesty the King’s condition remains unstable and under close monitoring.

In its 38th statement issued on the condition of His Majesty the King, the Bureau of the Royal Household indicated that the team of doctors providing treatment to His Majesty on October 11th diagnosed a further drop in his blood pressure, a heightened pulse and acidity in his blood all together signifying an infection of the blood and abnormal liver function.

The doctors have continued to provide antibiotics to His Majesty and continued work to normalize his blood acidity. They have also administered additional medicine to maintain His Majesty’s blood pressure.

His Majesty has been provided with a ventilator to facilitate his breathing and is now utilizing Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).

The statement indicated His Majesty’s overall condition continues to be unstable and requires close medical attention.

^ Me three. Will arrive back in Thailand tomorrow.
Missing Brisbane already. Thankfully, Mrs MN's visa is multi-entry and valid for the next 11 and a half months.

The unprecedented concern over his health has caused stocks and Thailand's currency, the baht, to tumble.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand closed down 2.5%, its lowest since the end of May.
A government spokesman urged people to rely on official announcements for updates on the situation, rather than on "uncorroborated information in social media circles".

Seems rather odd, how you've crowbarred English teachers into this topic.

In Asian trading Wednesday, the stock market plunged in Thailand amid simmering concerns about the health of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Other Asian shares were also broadly lower as the odds rose for a U.S. interest rate increase in December, leading to worries that foreign investors will pull money out of Asia.
Another news, foreign fonds got pulled out of Thailand worth half a billion dollars fear of the uncertain course/health of the King.
