Central Thailand and Bangkok Forum The Central Plains of Thailand are dominated by Bangkok, with its multitudes of Temples, Museums, the Grand Palace, and slowly moving North towards Ayutthaya the ancient Capital of Siam, and onto Lop Buri which is famous for its monkeys, and Sukhothai with its ancient Temples and Wats.

How about the Airport Now that the new airport has bee open for a few weeks, is there any tricks to getting in and out, easily, and inexpensively? I took a Taxi, once, and took the local bus, to the sky train, a other time. The bus, and train, cost 75 Baht, the taxi cost 350 baht. of course the taxi was faster and easier.

The airport has only been open for a few weeks, I would guess that people are still finding better ways to deal with the traffic issues, ect. But if I am out of line asking then I will shut up, and just read, instead of posting. What ever works best. I am easy.

I have been just the once to the new place. I took the BTS to On Nut and a taxi from there to get there and on the return I asked the taxi desk for the mnearest bts/mrta and was immediately informed On Nut. I could see this as being a bit of a problem in the future- lotsds of possibilities for traffic jams on the routes they used with me. Cost was mre expensive than with the old airport o sukhumvit.About 200 baht or so certtainly not the 350 baht mentionned in one post. However a lot would depend obviously on final destination or starting point

makes it easier to find the info when you need it rather than opening half a dozen threads... how ever, I'm sure the mods will merge it anyway... of course you could be CMN trying to lift your thread count...

It's ok until you get to the arrivals area then it turns to shit - quickly, it's too small, and the 'taxi touts" have been given free access it seems, it's a circus if you are looking for the someone who is supposed to meet you, I was supposed to have a driver, never did see him, added to this the aircon is'nt worth a *hi* too hot, the old airport was far better! At least all the road works on the way to Pattaya have now been nicely finished off | |

I found it OK, went upstairs to arrivals, jumped into a taxi which had just dropped off, Soi 4 in 12 mins, 140 baht. Came back from Soi 4 on a Fri 13.00 in about 18 min, 160 baht. Alot easier and cheaper, or was I lucky?????
