think it just seems expensive in Australia to us , because thier dollar has got so strong over the last few years.
the min wage there is $14 .31 an hour
which too seems very high , in Britain its £6 or about $9
No I think you are in for reality check, as for Edmonton how the fok can you compare it to Australia ?Originally Posted by socal

But you get what you pay for, bit like yanks and cant get over that the whole world doesnt revolve around canada
It was not a nationalist comment, I am just saying that aussies are paying too much of their income to housing historically , plain and simple. Canada is too.
Green service rig hands get $30.00 an hour and the Cad is worth more then the US dollar.
As far as I can tell, oilfield and mine work pays better in canada then auss yet housing is auss is more overpriced then canada.
Basically the only reason I want to move is to be closer to Thailand, Bali and S korea to save on airfare. Turns out that housing costs will more then eat up the difference. Plus, if I was to ever get serious with an Asian girl. Australia would be a more natural move.
Oh, well. looks like i will have to wait for the housing bubble to implode.
