    Planning another trip to LOS

Well its the time to start thinking about a holiday.

Reckon I can do about 3 weeks this year.

Emirates are offering Sydney -> BKK return for about $940 aussie return, sounds like good value. Anyone flown with them before? Maybe its cheap because you land in Bangers at about 1:00AM. At least there won't be much traffic. Figure I can pre-book a night's accomodation so there's no hassles.

No plans as to where to go really so far. A few days in Bangers to update the wardrobe. Maybe head north after that. Never seen Ayatthaya or Sukothai.

The more I hear about Pattaya the less I want to go there. Maybe get a week or so in at a beach somewhere else. I've been to Samui on another trip. Maybe Hua Hin would be good this time.

Thanks for reading my ramblings ;-)

Went to Chiang Mai last year. But its a fun town I could easily do it again. Three days wasn't enough. Now you have me thinking...

If you're going to go to koh Chang why not stop off for a couple of days in Pattaya. At the very least you'll have personal experience to base your opinions rather that other's views. Pattaya deserves a lot of the criticism it gets but it is a FUN town, not for everybody though, and worthy of two days out of three weeks.

Ayutthaya is pretty dull, but OK for a weekend.

Best bet is to get a motorbike and go up into Nan or Phrae and lose yourself for a few days.

Gotta agree with you there Ned. What one person may think about a place would be totally differant to another.

An area that I like is Loei Province - not everyones cup of tea but never fail to go there for a few days on every visit.

I guess you're right, leave my preconceptions at home.

Thanks for that Propagator, food for thought. I like to get off the beaten path from time to time.

Emirates is fine - avoid Pattaya at all costs.

I've flown Emirates SYD-BKK (a few years ago though). Very happy with the experience.

Emirates is considered one of the best airline in the world. I flew with them last week between HK and Bangkok and I can confirm, it's definitively one of the best airline in the world !

Yep I can confirm the above.
I have 425.000 air miles with Emirates Airlines, they are very good and have a very good service. If your flight gets in around 0100am it will be the EK419 I think.
Expect some queuing at Thai Immigration...

as far as emirates goes,i can't comment as ive never travelled with them but i only ever hear good things, also EVA air aint too bad an airline (flying from heathrow that is though) usually land arouund 3.00-3.30ish in the afternoon, gets me to my hotel for dusk,in the shower and then out ready to hit the city (of angels)

also flew out with thai last time, they were very good, exteremely good customer service and friendly staff not to mention the stewardessess....suay maak maak

Sounds like fun but bazzy and bikes don't mix. Bazzy and bikes and Thai roads is even more trouble. A car is not out of the question.

Well I made it back to LOS. A few months overdue. I feel a king again. Love this country.
