    International transport/shipping company.

I'll be taking a few things back to UK with me (a small amount - 2 or 3 teachests worth, I guess) & wondered if anyone could recommend a shipping company that doesn't mind sending small amounts & gives a decent service. The cargo company I use only does airfreight & nothing is that urgently needed that I would want to pay those prices. They wouldn't/couldn't recommend a sea-shipping company. Anyone have any recommendations? Cheers.

I have used these USA/BKK, BKK/USA, and moving within BKK, they have been nothing but great. Got rid of all the customs stuff for me as well.

I believe there have been many threads here on this subject NR. Try doing a search. Might turn up some good contacts.

I am amazed your cargo company couldnt recomend an agent, as they all work in together over international boundaries.

"Freight Forwarders" are who you need to search out. They will arrange door to door shipping anywhere in the world.
international freight forwarders - Google Search

Maybe reverse engineer it by contracting a service provider in England so you dont have to deal with Thais if your stuff doesnt turn up on time?

When I left Thailand and had probably about as much as you seem to have, I found that it was cheaper to air freight it than ship it. There are so many charges to shipping. Crating, customs, inspections, port charges, loading and unloading.......................

It was cheaper for me to air freight it. Get a quote, you may be surprised. They give you boxes which contain an average weight, but they dont weigh it and as much as you can fit in is ok. They also deliver the boxes and then pick them up at your house when you have packed them and deliver it to your door at home, it is so easy.

I dont know how much you have but I had three Jumbo boxes probably about three square metres and it cost me $600 Aus dollars, which is not many English quid. I know it is a bit further to the UK, but there are many more flights in that direction than to Aus too.

Sorry for the Thread fuck, but i too may be in this situation some time in the near future and if so, would be needing to send some stuff home....

Namely, desktop pc/lcd tv/xbox 360 collection of other random crap etc etc...

What would be the most secure method rather than the cheapest...

^I found that if you haven't got a good percentage of a container, you are better off air freighting it.

It seems that you pay the same amount of charges (although not actual freight) on a tea chest size or a shipping container. I mean port exits and entrance, customs inspections, debuggings (not the right word, but I cant think of the correct one) and then you have to pick it up at the customs shed at the docks.

Air freight has none of those charges.

Mine was delivered after clearing customs both ways. One was a huge shipment after my mom died. Just delivered to my door.

Is one that actually lists prices, most companies never answer emails and many are far too expensive. If you only have a small amount it might be worth looking at the largest boxes that the post office sells and seeing how much a few of those would cost to post, the biggest boxes are quite large.

Complete rubbish. It entirely depends on the service you choose. Sea freight is nearly always less expensive, unless you use a forwarder who can't sort it properly.

To send one of the biggest boxes back to the UK would cost 4000 at least.
