Trying to get a 'reporter' from some small town rag to admit they failed to make any attempt to verify the 'facts' in a story is like trying to teach a pig to fly - it just irritates the pig. The small town folks they write for, and who buy advertising which keeps their tabloid afloat, submit a story of their travels, exploits, etc. "Our congratulations to Susan Metcalf, who had the blue ribbon winning hog at the 4-H round-up!" The rag then prints it. End of story. I know this has been said by posters above, and it has been said as well that the small town readers read the story, went "oh, that's terrible", and headed off to do the rest of their weekly shopping without giving it, or Thailand, a second thought. While I found the story to be offensive, and the pastor vile, money-grubbing so-called religious people, of all faiths, have been making money off of the gullible masses for centuries, and will continue to do so. The scum here is the pastor, the reporter is just a tool, and the readers of no consequence. I do feel a bit sorry for the pastor's family, already brainwashed beyond redemption. But, that's religion in heartland America for you.
