maybe I need to work on my spelling but allot of people here need to work on their basic knowledge of the world.

From my observation, over 95% of people on Thailand forums think that poverty has a direct correlation with the amount of prostitution in Thailand. 90% is "a lot".

As I have proven, poverty has little to do with it. Why wouldn't the average single westerner go to Albania then ?

The going assumption in the Thailand forum community is that poverty is the main reason why there is so much prostitution in Thailand. Use your head and put 2 and 2 together. If poverty is the main reason why there is so much prostitution in Thailand then by that assumption, Thailand must be very poor and any country that is poorer then Thailand must have at least the same or more prostitution then Thailand.

If it can be proven (like I just did) that there is actually way less prostitution in poorer countries then Thailand, then the assumption that poverty is the main reason for prostitution in Thailand is just simply wrong.

Nobody has to say that Thailand is the poorest country in the world, but their ill informed logic states that it is.

The main reason for prostitution in Thailand is simply laziness and greed on the part of the police, government, powers that be and the sex workers themselves.

No SoCal, it is you that can't seem to put things together. It has already been stated on this thread that poverty drives prostitution. Disgard who is poorer as far as countries go. If a family does not have enough to eat, then they are poor monetarily because they can not buy food. There are other choices to make money, but in many countrys (not just Thailand) women will turn to prostituion to make enough money to feed themselves and their family. I do not believe they pick this profession because it is their first choice, it is just easier. If they are in an environment where people are willing to pay for this service, then it will thrive. If nobody has any money, it will not thrive. If that is what you are trying to say, then I agree with you.
Thailand has chosen to look the other way and accept this fact in order to allow "poor" families to eat. You never see any HiSo ladies prostituting themselves in bars, do you? Yes, there are affluent people that get richer off this profession as well but that is how things work.
You need to understand about things before stating what you think everyone else is missing. We are all pretty much saying the same thing, but in many different ways.
