78% of young mums in BKK pregnant while @ school

    Most young mums still schoolgirls

Almost 78 per cent of young mothers in Bangkok became pregnant while they were school students, research has found.

Passanant Assawarak, of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thon Buri, carried out an in-depth study subsidised by the National Culture Commission of mothers in several emergency homes for girls in the capital.

It found 43 per cent were aged between 14 and 20 and got pregnant after sex with high-school boyfriends. A further 34.7 per cent were under

14 and in primary education, while others were vocational students, university students, or uneducated.

Some 70 per cent were first-time mothers, while 14 per cent were victims of sexual assault.

Prisana Pongthadsirikul, secretary-general of the Commission, told a press conference yesterday that 34.7 per cent of their partners were high-school boys, 24 per cent were in primary education, 10 per cent were vocational students.

Most of the mothers said they did not dare to have an abortion, but 21 per cent admitted they had attempted to abort the babies but failed.
The poll also found 3,200 out of 10,373 people calling a Child Protection Foundation hotline were pregnant students. Some said they wanted to commit suicide. - The Nation

Interesting, but what's the real figure 78% of what.
Could be 20 girls as far as I can tell.

Interesting. 78% of YOUNG MUMs got pregnant at school. Well, I should hope so. If they interviewed girls of school age, then what the hell did they expect? At least they're trying to get an education.

Another ridiculous statistic in a ridiculous country. What's next?

    ROAD ACCIDENT STATISTIC HORROR

In a survey of road accidents in Bangkok yesterday, it was revealed that almost 90% of traffic accidents were caused by motorists or motorbike riders. These shocking statistics reveal the extent to which Thailand's road users are out of control, etc., etc........

    ALARMING BURGLARY FIGURES REVEALED

The police commissioner today revealed that almost 60% of burglaries take place in the home. Most of the others take place in shops and offices. The police are asking the prime minister for emergency powers to deal with the escalating level of domestic and business crime. etc., etc....ad nauseam.
The truth is out there, but then I'm stuck in here.

    Read it again:

Where are you likely to find young sexual assault victims? - in emergency homes for girls!

This kind of statistics are meaningless. Even if 100% of the girls were victims of sexual assault, the only conclusion oen can make is that sexual assults take place in Thailand. Big surprise!!
Any error in tact, fact or spelling is purely due to transmissional errors...

I really cant believe that, if it was true there would be a public outcry, or at least 1st world countries threatening to stick Thailand with some trade sanctions if they didn't sort it out.

There are plenty of young mums in the UK now too, most of the people I went to school with already have children now.

Wonder what the next generation of children will be like!

    What it doesn't say is.

100% of them are thrown out of school on finding they are pregnant.
