A free basic education of twelve years is guaranteed by the constitution, and a minimum of nine years school attendance is mandatory.

There is plenty of work in the fields for these people, and if they wish to move to the larger cities, there are plenty of menial jobs to go round, cooks, shop attendants, factory work etc.

In the land of smiles, vultures and vampires has any thai been prosecuted for crimes against the farang . Where a thai police officer has gone out and actually arrested someone and prosecuted them . I've read of a farang catching someone red-handed breaking into his home and taking the thief down to the police station to have him charged and then having to wait 18 months to see the guy in court. Or if a victim's family are not satisfyed with a murder investigation or disappearance then they are forced to hire a private detective to get a result . Farangs are having crimes committed against them by the hundreds every day and nobody helps them to recover .I thought it was just one big mafia controlled society where anyone who can speak a little english on the streets is a danger to every farang. LAND OF SMILES !!!!!! We've had enough of that kidology. It's a fukin dangerous country.

Don't disagree, but crimes against individuals with little outcome are hardly unique to farangs. I know of countless examples of crimes against Thai's, carried out by Thai's where the police did fuck all and the perpetrator was never arrested. Most Thai's I speak to regard the police as a useless bunch of corrupt assholes.

The Charnaud case was investigated by a private detective . Thai police brushed it under the carpet. It was the private investigater who successfully brought the culprits to court. The Charnaud family hired the investigater because of incompetent thai police.

Charnaud case was investigated by a private detective hired by the family.

Beeston case got attention because his pal thought there was something wrong when he went to visit him one sunny day and was confronted by his angry wife who told him to fuk off. Mindful of Beestons suspicions that she might try to kill him, he informed the police that something was up. The police and he went back to the house and found her and new lover< a policeman> in the process of getting rid of the Beeston's body. Ah red handed .

I agree, Thailand should enforce a 'zero tolerance' policy with regard to foreign sex tourists. And what of the Thai only sex industry? Which dwarfs the one catering to foreigners (Japanese and westerners).
