| The Dog | Pattaya - POLICE ACCUSED OF EXTORTING FRENCH NATIONAL FOR 150,000 BAHT POLICE ACCUSED OF EXTORTING FRENCH NATIONAL FOR 150,000 BAHT A French national who is living and working in Thailand has reported to Pattaya police officers that he was extorted out of 150,000 baht recently by members of an investigative team that visited his workplace. Pattaya, the 26th of November 2009 [PDN]: On the day of the 26th of November Mr Cyril Bossis Bonye age 31, of French nationality, proceeded to the Pattaya Police Station in order to file a complaint in regards to police extortion that he alledged has occurred. Mr Bonye explained to officers at the station that at approximately 4:30pm on the 23rd of November a team of police investigators came into his restaurant, located on Soi Yensabai, with a search warrant in-hand. The officers confiscated 20 t-shirts, 15 pairs of shoes, 10 watches and 38 CD’s which all of which were fakes. He was then escorted down to the Pattaya Police Station and interviewed on the 3rd floor of the building. ![]() Following a short wait Mr Bonye was asked to step outside of the interview room were he alledges that he was presented with the opportunity of paying the officers involved an amount of 150,000 baht or face a lengthy jail term. Quite obviously being scared Mr Bonye asked a friend to deliver the money to the station at which point he paid a police officer the request amount of money. After the money was handed over Mr Bonye was sent back to the interview room for a short while before being told that he was free to leave. ![]() Mr Bonye decided to return and report the extortion after consulting with his friends and girlfriend about the incident. Police are as yet unsure of the veracity behind Mr Bonye’s report but have called in the group of investigators from the case to get their version of events. Pattaya Daily News

| He's a proper dumb shit, as the police will probably file a counter claim saying he tried to bribe them and they have the 150,000 baht as evidence, not a good idea to make Pattaya policemen lose face if you are in business. |
