Police raided the storage warehouse of the large TukCom Computer Center in South Pattaya on Sunday, finding almost 40,000 pirate CD’s and DVD’s packaged for sale with a production value of over 400,000 baht.
Pattaya, 8th of November 2009 (PDN): Police Colonel Sarayuth Songwonphokhai, chief of the Pattaya Police along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Chalermsak Thianthongsri commanded a special operations police team into the TukCom Center on Sunday at approximately 10:00pm, with the intent on searching the 6th (top floor) of the center, which was known to them to contain the warehouse facilities for all the shops in the building.
After searching the entire floor police were able to confiscate altogether about 33,390 illegally pirated CD’s and DVD’s containing Thai and foreign movies, games, karaoke and pornography. The material was found in storage rooms 7,8,9,11 and 22 all of which were in the 6th floor warehouse. The confiscated material is estimated to have a production value in the region of 400,000 baht.
After the raid on the warehouse police packaged and removed all the pirated items as evidence and proceeded downstairs to talk with the TukCom Center Management, who informed police that the storage rooms in question belonged to a shop on the 5th floor of the center, however when police investigated the shop and its vicinity nobody was currently staying their or confessed to being the store owner. All materials will be kept in police custody whilst police investigations continue.
