Jomtien - Unsuccessful Bomb attack on ATM Machine

Unsuccessful Bomb attack on ATM Machine in Jomtien.

[PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Just before daybreak on Saturday, Police were called to a United Overseas Bank (UOB) ATM Machine located in front of the Pattaya Underwater World Park in Jomtien to deal with an attempted theft from the ATM Machine, whereby those involved used explosives to open a door which allows for access to the back of the machine.

Security Guards working at the Park were alerted to a sound which they thought was that of an exploding tire earlier in the night and thought nothing of it and as they patrolled around the Park they noticed burn marks to the secure door and some damage to the ATM Machine itself.

Evidence of a home-made bomb was also found close to the back door and Forensic Police were called as was the UOB Bank who will provide the Security Camera Pictures to Police of what is thought to be a poorly planned attack on the machine with the apparent intention of removing the money from it.

Later on Saturday Police Major General Tanaert, the Chonburi Police Commander attended the scene with a new team of Forensic Police Officers who made a further detailed analysis of the crime scene.

The General confirmed that this crime clearly did not involve professional thieves and the bomb consisted of an empty firework shell and long piece of metal which was then attached to the back door with a petroleum jelly based substance.

He is taking this crime very seriously and will personally work on the case to ensure those involved are brought to justice.
