a cold spell begins in upper Thailand

Cold spell begins in upper Thailand; heavy rain hits South CHIANG MAI, Nov 4 (TNA) – A cold spell covering the North and the Northeast, with affects reaching the capital, marked the beginning of winter while heavy rain has hit some southern provinces, prompting flood warning.
In the northern province of Chiang Mai, the high pressure system caused a one-to-three degrees Celsius drop in temperature, with Wednesday’s temperature at about 22 degrees.
On Thailand’s highest peak, Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai, the temperature dropped to 6 degrees Celsius. The current temperature in Nan dropped three degrees to 17 degrees Celsius.
The cold weather results in residents, in particular motorcyclists and students, wearing warm clothing.
Meanwhile, students of some schools in rural areas including mountaintops have to do exercises in their open-air playgrounds to keep themselves warm.
In the northeastern province of Yasothon, overnight cool weather accompanied by strong winds, flattened rice in paddy fields, forcing farmers to urgently drain water from the fields to avoid rotting rice, submerged in the water.
Meanwhile, some low-income farmers in Buri Ram begin fixing their warm clothing in preparation for the cold spell.
In the capital of Bangkok and its vicinity, the weather is cool and windy in the morning and may have widely scattered light rain.
The southern region starting from the upper south in Chumphon including some areas of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung and Songkhla have been warned of possible flash flood and forest run-off.
Phatthalung Governor Vinai Karuwannapat hasy warned residents living near foothills of the Bun-tad mountain range to beware of flash floods, forest run-off and mudslide due three consecutive days of rainfall.
In Narathiwat, local irrigation officials prepared 30 pumps for draining off water as well as 300 sandbags to prevent flooding of homes.
According to the Meteorological Department forecast, there is strong wind-wave and heavy falls in the Gulf of Thailand.
People living along the eastern coast in the South should beware of high waves and flash flooding. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats should keep ashore for two to three days. (TNA)

For me, accustomed as I am to inclement weather, it is bloody lovely in BKK at the moment.

Wallalai has disabled reputation
Didn't notice a big drop in temperature, slightly fresh and cloudy in the morning but very sunny in the afternoon.

Not yet worried to buy snow chains.

The gloom is descending upon us, winter will soon be here, the second I've had to endure and I don't much like it

Similar weather pattern to N. Cal

One of the reasons I like Chiang Mai. My home in Lake Co. California is experiencing the same kind of weather pattern.

You don't say.

Pleasantly cool around here in Ubon, especially early morning.
I'm still in shorts and T, but the locals are rugging up.

Once the rains go away in November we usually get some hot weather, what with the sun pounding down all day, but cooler weather should kick in soon, a couple of weeks to wait, I figure...
