| Looks pretty darn menacing. Seems to be going west but BBC was saying southern China this morning; the remnants usually end up in Northeastern Thailand a lot fo the time. This time it looks like Vietnam is going to get a good washing down. |

| Ketsana will make typhoon strength, maybe category 2, before landfall. It will still be a rapidly dissipating tropical depression by the time it arrives in Isaan. This according to the JTWC. I'd expect a buttload of rain. It has unusually high cloud tops over a large area (which caused the flooding in the Philippines). I've been watching its development over the last week. Tropical depression 18 and another (likely to be tropical depression 19) are heading towards the Philippines now. Tropical depression 18 is highly likely to be at typhoon strength before it makes landfall there. The end result is, I'd expect the Philippines to have more serious flooding...and north eastern Thailand is odds on to experience at least 2 more bouts of unpleasant torrential periods of prolonged rainfall. Lots of flooding over the next 10 days or so is very likely....and there's still quite a while until things should start to calm down. This can all change of course.

| Latest is Ketsana is now a typhoon and just off the Vietnam coast. Will achieve cat 2 before landfall I think. The projected track is the same. Isaan should experience a remnant low/tropical depression. It wont be as windy, but such events can still produce a lot of rain. On a positive note, as an eye wall has formed, some of the intense far reaching cloud mass has lessened. Tropical depression 18 looks like it will hit the Philippines as a typhoon. The newly formed tropical depression 19 looks to be tracking north at the moment, avoiding land. This could of course change, they are near each other and may interact to a degree. |

| It's rather cool and a little windy in Bangkok. I think Samui will get more rain than here, a large band of clouds headed into the gulf earlier. Looks like Isaan got a fair bit of rain though. Ketsana has all but dissipated, the JTWC has issued its final warning. Going to be cloudy and wet tomorrow, but the worst has passed. |
