Of 2,452 respondents, only 13.3 per cent correctly answer that there are 21 vowels in Thai language. The National Thai Language Day falls on July 29 every year. Only 9.9 per cent know about this fact. "Most Thais don't know Thai language well," Dr Noppadon Kannika said Thursday as the head of ABAC Academic Network for Community Happiness Observation and Research. The Nation Do I read this right, the Network for Community Happiness Observation and Research are saying most Thais are dumb. That should make the community very happy

These sort of surveys are always being thrown up for different countries: 'Students in [insert nation of choice] cannot [identify the nations capital on a map/perform basic multiplication] etc.' Now I'm going to go have a shower because I feel dirty.

| a positive statement from paulsmithson at last. Some of the Thais are made to think they are stupid because it's indoctorated in the system by the one who you think is great in a recent post on TD. Latin was used as an educated way to comunicate in europe but in reality it was to keep the uneducated ignorant. have a green for a change |

Education is a wonderfull thing but when a large amount of a population doesn't have it then don't even bother looking at statistics based on population surveys.

| Streetwise. These people grow up bullshitting each other, lying through their back teeth and shafting their best friend if there is ten Baht to be had. They have to learn how to judge human behaviour from people's actions as they can't trust each-other. That is why so many Farangs get screwed here. The average teenage bargirl has more savvy than many of us here, even handsome powerful and clever ones like me.

| Chiang Mai | Opportunity Environment, opportunity and the basic desire to survive, leaves us all just short of true animal status. The haves can afford the luxury of giving to make themselves feel good, the have not's the experience of surviving, at any costs. Seems to me, I just fell lucky to be in the skin I'm in. |
