"Fast and Furious 9" producers meet Krabi Governor

KRABI, 13 June 2019(NNT) - On Wednesday (June 12), the Governor of Krabi, Pol. Lt. Col. M.L. Kitibadee Prawit, the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailandís (TAT) Krabi Office, Apichai Aranyig, and an official of the Krabi Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports Office, Janyarak Satidkit, welcomed the Production Manager of the Fast & Furious 9 (FF9) movie, Piya Pestonji, at Krabi Town Hall in Krabi province.

Mr. Piya met with the officials to discuss the details of shooting FF9 and ask for a permission to shoot the movie in the provinces of Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, and Surat Thani from July 1 to 27, 2019. He was represented by Peston Film Company Limited.

The FF9 movie has invested more than 340 million baht in Thailand and has created jobs, improved the skills of workers in the film industry, and promoted Thai tourism and culture in foreign countries.

The Krabi Governor said he would like to welcome the production crew and cast, as they have improved the well-being of community members. He has called on all sides to be a good host, make them feel welcome, and help protect the environment. He said the production crew has to comply with the law and coordinate with relevant agencies before setting up a temporary office in Krabi for their own convenience.

Pol. Lt. Col. M.L. Kitibadee said this is an opportunity for Thailand to generate more revenue from tourism and develop the quality of services to international standards.

Hope they don't reiterate the Maya bay blunder when they filmed The Beach, accusing years later the production team of environmental damages...and then let tourism operators fuck up the bay until it's almost too late to salvage the place

It was fucked up before Danny Boyle went there. They removed something like 12 tons of rubbish and carefully transplanted all the plants and trees. They left it miles better off than when they arrived.

The Thais didn't take long to fuck it all up again, as is the norm.

So in the movie the Fast & Furious crew have to take on some notorious jet ski scammers while parasailing their souped up cars over Patong beach.

I heard Thailand's one and only submarine will be involved in the chase, too.

^^ That's what I thought but wasn't sure about it, I'm not surprised the place was filled with trash beforehand...hope the production team take a before/after pictures to prevent wrongful lawsuit later on

Just what Thai roads and young drivers with no license need; a role model like Paul Walker.
