Rainy season to start next week

After more than two months of unusually hot weather in most parts of the country, which saw temperatures rise to over 40 degrees Celsius in several northern and northeastern provinces, the Meteorological Department has announced that Thailand will officially enter the rainy season next week, hopefully bringing with it some respite from the heat and drought.

In addition to man-made fires, such as the burning of farm waste, the very hot weather has been blamed for serious forest fires this year, blanketing Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces in smog for several weeks, posing a serious health threat.

The department predict increased rainfall in the northern, northeastern, central, eastern and southern regions from today until Thursday. The rain will ease temporarily in the upper part of the country on Friday next week, but the soutrn region will face heavy rain in some areas with moderate winds and waves averaging two metres in the Andaman Sea.

After a tortuously hot few weeks we had a big storm in Korat last Thursday followed by a beautiful cool day of light drizzle on Friday.

The heat is building again so hopefully more rain on the way...

Good! been a long dry season here in Udon, rains finished mid September, had about three decent rains since then, least its cooled off a good bit now, was murderously hot a couple of weeks back, takes me at least an hour a day to water the garden, be glad to put the sprinklers and hoses away for the season! had to water today as hot as - and no rain for four days.
Job for the dry season is to expand the sprinkler system further, once the ground is diggable!

My bad, Thailand's a big place and rain comes and goes differently according to region.

Generally our region gets localised sporadic rain in May, which drops off in June and then comes back with force in July. That's the way it's been for as long as I can remember and it doesn't appear to be that much different this year. I prefer to watch the ants than listen to the met when it comes to rain.

So now the cuntos can forget all about the toxic pollution of the last 3 months and pretend it never happened.

And start the whole pointless fucking cycle again next February.

Same here in Banchang, Rayong. Dull day with continual drizzle, a bit like Manchester, tbh.

    Hammered it down overnight, though.

There has been rain most days in Chonburi province near Bo Thong where we are, including some spectacular thunder and lightening storms.

This started around 3 weeks ago (just before I got there on the last vacation ) and just in time for those bush plantings we did outside the boundary wall.

Finally, a bit of thunder and about 5 minutes of weak rain. The garden is getting desperate, and this was of no real use whatsoever.
