Passenger van driver fined for driving against traffic

    The Nation
The driver of a passenger van has been fined Bt2,000 after being caught on a Facebook clip driving against traffic on Sukhumvit Road on Saturday and entering an expressway exit.

The Land Transport Department announced Monday that the van serves the Tor 63 route from Rangsit to Bang Plee.

The van driver was identified as Anan Paepipat.

The department said Anan was summoned for questioning on Sunday after a Facebook user, Surat Boon, posted the clip.

The van was seen driving against the traffic into the expressway exit on Soi Sukhumvit 62.

The department added that Anan's public transport driving license has been suspended for 15 days.

Only if they hit someone and that's when they give a fcuk as it may mean paying compensation. Hence why many hit and run.

Just had a big argument with her indoors. She wanted to go to to ko lipe over songkran . Seemed a good idea as i can fly direct from udon to hat yai cheaply enough. Then i read the bit where we need to take a minivan to the ferry ( 2 hours) Theres absolutely no way i would spend 2 hours in a minivan with somchai behind the wheel. Especially during songkran. Plus i would need to use my last remaing land crossing for the year to get to udon from Lao. Keeping that visa up my sleeve incase i need it for a Medical emergency. Ive got nothing against paying for a visa but to get one now requires making an appointment with the thai consulate here. At the moment that takes a minimum of 2 weeks to get and thats only when there website is working. So they can get fucked. BLD aint going.

Folks complain about traffic here in Thailand, quite rightly, but I would much rather drive here than in PI, drivers there a lot more aggressive & "great" at making extra lanes when totally impracticable to gain an inch or two.

I've driven in both countries for years, and quite agree; real pain in the ass here.

That's the plan, now all you need to do BLD is secure a bucket or two of swimming crabs to keep Mrs BLD happy and the jobs jobbed.

On the odd occasion I've driven from Angeles to Subic, I've found it quite sedate.

I still can't get over that "First stop, First go" stuff around Subic. Compare it with the fucking free for all you get in other Asian countries.

Angeles and Subic areas aren't bad. Try Manila......will flat cure you of driving. I've had more than a few folks who worked for me in Manila curtail their tours and leave, no matter the career damage, due to traffic.

I remember the first time I got a ride from Manila to Angeles. The first two hours of it involved going about three miles. We passed these walking schoolkids about half an hour in, and they overtook us an hour later.

Thereafter I took the ABC Hotel chopper.
