BANGKOK, 8 January 2019 (NNT) – Particulate Matter under 2.5 microns or PM 2.5 was above the safety level throughout the capital city, especially in central Bangkok.
The Pollution Control Department has reported that PM 2.5 was measured between 42 and 80 micrograms per square meter in Bangkok and its vicinity throughout Monday, threatening the health of Bangkokians in 21 areas, particularly those living in Kanchanaphisek, Bang Na, Bang Kapi, Din Daeng, Lad Prao, Thonburi and Phayathai.
People residing in central Bangkok have voiced their concerns about possible health issues and long-term effects. The department expects the situation to worsen on Tuesday.
The public can check air quality in their areas via the “Air4Thai” application developed by the Pollution Control Department. The application allows users to understand the Air Quality Index using signs and colors.
