Temperatures begin to drop in North and North East

BANGKOK, 30th October 2018 (NNT)-The Meteorological Department has forecast that temperatures in the North and North East of Thailand will decline by 1-3 degrees Celsius within the next 24 hours.

People living the northern and north eastern regions have been urged to keep warm as the weather is expected to become colder. Heavy rain will continue in the East and South of Thailand.

Temperatures in Bangkok and its vicinity will drop to 25 degrees Celsius in the morning and rise to a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius by midday.

In Nong Khai province, people could be seen exercising in the morning along the Mekong River to keep warm as the temperature began to drop. The lowest temperature recorded earlier today was 17 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees lower than Monday.

In Bueng Kan province, the morning temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius with thick fog apparent in various areas. Like their peers in Nong Khai, people came out of their houses in the morning to exercise along Khao Mao Road to keep themselves warm.

Deputy Commander of Beung Kan Provincial Peace Keeping Command, Col Sukhontharat Chawapong has instructed military units in the province and relevant agencies to visit residents to check on their health especially bed-ridden patients and the elderly in remote areas as the temperature begins to drop, to ensure their well-being.

Sorry to laugh but that just sounds so funny here in Thailand. "Urged to keep warm"....

I haven't seen any down jackets and beanies yet but I am sure they are digging them out now....

Nice and cool at 5 am this morning here in Pattaya.

The dogs love the cooler climate, particularly the monster, wanted to have a wrestle when I greeted him.

Well the long forecast 17 degrees for Nan this morning didn't happen. Was the standard 22/21. Bit disappointed. Hoping tomorrows 16 degrees happens.

Yes. An awesome sight. I suggest that the theme of November's or December's photo competition is Thai dogs dressed in their winter outfits.

It dropped below 20 last night up here in Sakon. We traded the fan for open windows and a very pleasant breeze it was too.

It'll be a few more weeks before it gets down to 10....and that really does feel cold.

This morning was 19c. Did my bike ride around 7:30a and was able to work in the yard almost all day after I got back. Even got a splash of rain about 1pm. Temp hit about 27c. Perfect

I have done a quite a few over night get aways in the mountains during winter. Never even put on a long sleeve shirt. 8 to 10c is crisp and refreshing. I was just in Napa California, It was 8 to 12 c every morning and I was wearing shorts golfing.

But I understand that if you lived in 30C weather your entire life, 10c is probably cold.

Cold weather expected in northern mountains

MAE HONG SON, 31 October 2018 (NNT) - The temperature in the mountain areas of the northern and northeastern regions is expected to drop shortly as winter season is approaching.

Mae Hong Son Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation center chief Rueangrit Phondee said the center has been notified by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of the forecast change of climate in the northern and northeastern regions at the advent of winter season.

The temperature in many areas of the upper regions has started to slightly drop, with strong cool breezes in the morning. Cold weather can be felt on highlands and mountain peaks in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Nan, Payao, Tak, Pitsanulok, Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Khon Kaen, Surin, Buriram, Srisaket, Udorn Thani, Kalasin, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Panom, Mukdaharn, and Ubon Ratchathani.

Over the next three days, a high pressure from China will be prevailing over the upper parts of Thailand, causing the temperature in the area to drop by 4-6 degrees Celsius. This condition may cause extreme cold weather on mountain peaks where the temperature can quickly drop to as low as 6-9 degrees Celsius.

The provincial disaster office has warned the general public to keep themselves updated with latest weather information, follow instructions given from officials, and keep themselves healthy. More information is available 24/7 on www.disaster.go.th, Hotlines 1748 and 192, and Mae Hong Son Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office tel 0 5361 4313.

Oh, I see. So that's why you're talking about ten degrees? When obviously the temperatures get down much lower than that?

It was 15C early this morning and, with 96% humidity, it felt jolly cold. At least it warms up quickly at the moment.

It was definitely a couple or few degrees cooler this morning.

Quite easy to discern temperature variations when you're performing morning ablutions at 5:00 AM completely starkers.
