Chiang Rai bus crash injures 25 French tourists

CHIANG RAI, 18th July 2018 (NNT) - A bus carrying French tourists en route to Chiang Rai province crashed on Tuesday due to a slippery road. However, the 26 people on board walked away with only minor injuries.

The accident took place in Mae Lao district while the bus was on its way to Chiang Rai. The French passengers were taken off the bus and to Mae Lao hospital after the vehicle overturned on the slippery road surface.

Those injured were one Thai tour guide and 25 French tourists. The driver, Nattapol Klinchuen, who appeared to be unharmed, revealed that he was driving from Chiang Mai and was looking for a rice field along the way to show the French tourists.

He claimed that rain started pouring and the road became slippery, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Ahhh.....might be easier to guess that the driver continued to handle the vehicle like a bat outta hell despite the precarious conditions??

AS IN: slow down and take reasonable caution when these dangerous situations present themselves.

Just as bad that the tyres did. The bus didn't just crash but overturned, which suggests even if the brakes were fit for their purpose then speed and tyres were complicit.

That's a dangerous way to live in Thailand; you would be safer driving, drunk and blindfolded.

Understand their "rules" and adjust. You are in a foreign country, adapt or die. Always take the least dangerous choice and you will survive. Or sit in your condo on the 12th floor and order your delivered takeaway, food, female, male or fine wine.

    This ain't Somerset.
