NAKHON PHANOM, 8th July 2018 (NNT) A new bicycle route has been made available to the people of Nakhon Phanom.

The inauguration of the new cycling lane which took place on Saturday morning was presided over by Labor Minister Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew. The newly-constructed route allows cyclists to avoid traffic on Soonthorn Wichit Road while enjoying a beautiful landscape along the 74-kilometer long and 5-meter wide lane.

Riders and hikers can also use a QR Code reader on their phones to get astrological horoscope predictions. The matrix barcode can be found along the route.

Later in the evening, the minister led other participants in a religious ceremony to pay their respects to the statue of Phraya Sri Sattanakaraj which was sculpted three years ago.

Phraya Sri Sattanakaraj resembles a 7-headed Naga. Nagas are mythical serpent beings that originated in Hinduism. In Buddhism, they are often protectors of the Buddha and of the dharma. People of Nakhon Phanom believe Nagas reside in the body of Mekong River.
