PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 19 June 2018 (NNT) – The Tourist Police have raided gangs organizing World Cup football gambling online with 12 million baht cash in circulation each month.

The Tourist Police Deputy Chief Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, held a press conference at Hua Hin Provincial Police Station today, to announce the arrests made in the fight against a network of football gambling organizers in Thailand.

He said the Royal Thai Police force is now on track to eradicate online football gambling websites in the country, which has led to raids and arrests of gambling providers in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan; Muang, Nakhon Si Thammarat; and Hat Yai, Songkhla, all operated as a criminal network trying to attract gamblers to place their bets on World Cup matches.

In these raids, 22 suspects have been arrested along with the confiscation of 42 notebook computers, 7 mobile phones, 3 microphones, and bank account passbooks showing 12 million baht cash in circulation each month.

The suspects were also found to be connected to another five gambling sites which are also being watched by the authorities.

The money from these gambling activities will be confiscated by the Anti-Money Laundering Office, while the general public is warned against the consequences of gambling which often leads to debt and various crimes.
