PM asks citizens to take care of their health

BANGKOK, 10th June 2018 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has asked members of the public to safeguard themselves against sickness by eating healthy food and exercising regularly.

To mark Ananda Mahidol Day on June 9th, which commemorates the passing of King Ananda Mahidol or King Rama VIII of the House of Chakri, the prime minister invited the public to stop smoking and drinking, consume healthy food, exercise to stay fit, and keep their residences clean and sanitized.

“As father of modern medicine, King Ananda Mahidol founded the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, hoping to produce physicians and healthcare personnel to care for sick people,” said Gen Prayut, adding that “it is always better to prevent sickness rather than to try to find a cure for it.” The latter can be costly and time-consuming.

Gen Prayut then asked all to familiarize themselves with the Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients (UCEP) policy which provides free emergency services to all during the first 72 hours. Under the policy, those needing emergency care can seek help at nearby hospitals, public or private.

Since the policy came into force a year ago, a total of 15,000 lives have been saved, according to records.

Yes sure, sound advice. Is healthy food easily available to common people? AFAIK vegetables are full of chemical, organic is expensive and organic "Thai style"...they should acknowledge the issue and ensure safer level of chemicals on the stalls, warn consumers and advise them on methods to get rid of (most of) them with a national campaign.

I suppose the sage old guy will advise people not to put their hands in fire or jump off cliffs, next.
    He's so wise and caring.
