Driver killed as bus toppled during wheel change

SAMUT PRAKAN: A driver was crushed to death while changing a wheel after the six-wheeled bus he had driven toppled on Sukhumvit Soi 72 in tambon Samrong Nua of Muang district Friday morning.

The incident happened in front of a Shell petrol station on the middle inbound lane of Sukhumvit Road at about 7am. The body of driver Boonplook Nuamson, 51, was found under the right rear part of the bus. A right rear wheel of the bus was missing.

Police quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the driver was using a jack to lift the vehicle for the wheel replacement. As the vehicle was being lifted, it tilted and the weight pressured and burst other rear wheels, causing the bus to topple on the driver.

Police found that a right rear wheel had earlier been loosened from the bus because its bolts were snapped. The wheel hit and damaged a car.

The sheer stupidity of that man was truly, profoundly, dizzyingly, stratospherically, stupendously impressive. Surely, they are the dumbest folk on the planet.

Once again the board idiot excels himself in Thai Bashing, he knows nothing about the country or its people yet claims to live here among all the people he despises.

The heading is misleading the bus fell of the jack and the unfortunate driver happened to be under the bus, can happen anywhere and has happened many times.

Sorry my tolerance of fools is at a low today.

this is not a common occurrence surely, when working under a raised vehicle, one would place a hard solid object of sufficient size under the vehicle, specifically to prevent injury should the jack fail or the jacking point give way.

sound like vehicle maintenance was not one of the chickenheaded bugmunchers strong points.

he wasnt too hot on wheelchanging either.

Rule #1. Never rely on the jack alone. It's printed on the side of the jack.

But very harsh to say the victim is a stupid man. He may have been pressured to get the job done... or else, down the road you go.

It happens. Every day, every minute of every day.

And the bosses get away with it.
