BANGKOK, 1 May 2018 (NNT) - Piers along Phadung Krung Kasem Canal are expected to be restored to ensure the safety of passengers before the end of September.

Bangkok Deputy Governor Chakkaphan Phiew-ngarm observed the pier restoration process which is now underway at 10 piers including Hua Lampong and Talad Thewarat Kunchorn Piers, to name a few, as part of the city hall's water transportation development project.

Under the project which costs 16.7 million baht, a new pier is expected to be built in addition to the 10 others to accommodate an increasing number of boat passengers.

The deputy governor added it will take around 180 days to complete the project. There are currently 11 passenger boats operating on Padung Krung Kasem Canal. The city hall will buy more boats using its 2019 fiscal budget to streamline boat services.
