BANGKOK, 22nd April 2018 (NNT) – All water pumping stations at canals on the Thonburi side of Bangkok will be operable before the upcoming rainy season.

The Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Jakkapan Pewngarm, said after visiting the construction site of flood walls along Rahan and Sanam Chai canals that the construction is delayed from the invasion of locals, with 80 percent of the flood wall along Khlong Rahan Canal now constructed but the pumping station yet to be installed.

Contractors are instructed to start the installation of the pumping station to ensure the station will be operable by July this year in order to help prevent possible flooding in Bang Bon, Phasi Charoen, and Bang Khun Thian districts.

The maintenance at Khlong Sanam Chai pumping station is now 99 percent completed, with all 15 pumps now operable, as well as other pumping stations at at Lat Montri and Bang Bon canals.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is working closely with contractors to ensure the maintenance of all pumping stations in Thonburi will be completed in July to get ready for a large amount of water during rainy season.
