AYUTTHAYA, 16th April 2018 (NNT) - The Minister of Transport, Arkhom Termpittayapaisith has instructed Ayutthaya province to improve accident-prone road sections, following accidents that caused many deaths and injuries on Sunday.

The minister on Monday traveled to the scene of the accidents and instructed the province to urgently improve the sections of road, particularly those at the 17th kilometer. The minister said he had approved budget for the road surface improvement.

The minister also instructed the province to adjust eight bridge approaches and pavements and put up more speed limit signs.

Road accidents in the province during Songkran this year took place by day and night equally. The accident locations were not on the province's top 10 accident-prone road sections, according to the minister.

Governor of Ayutthaya, Suchin Chaichumsak said on Monday that the provincial administration is cooperating with all relevant sectors to ensure safety for holidaymakers now on their way back to Bangkok.
