BURIRAM, 4th April 2018 (NNT)-The Department of Agriculture Extension (DOAE) has urged rice farmers in Buriram province to grow feed corn to supplement their income during the dry season.

DOAE Director-General Somchai Chanarongkul, this week staged a public relations event aimed at promoting feed corn farming among rice farmers, as the dry season has officially begun.

The event, which was held in Krasang district, served as a venue for farmers to meet and discuss the program while experts on feed corn growing and pest control were also there to advise them on the enterprise.

The government is also providing financial support worth 2,000 baht per rai to the farmers as part of a feed-corn growing program to help them get started.

Buriram is amongthe many provinces where financial assistance is being offered to deter farmers from off-season rice growing in the summer, when water becomes less plentiful. Of the 172 farmers in Buriram joining the program, 64 of them, who own a total of 403 rai, are in Krasang district.
