Thailand bans plastic bottle cap seals from April 1st

BANGKOK, 1st April 2018, NNT - Thailand has discontinued seals for plastic bottle caps to reduce waste in water pipes causing death to marine animals. The goal is to lower the volume of plastic waste amounting to 2,600 million pieces or 520 metric tons per year by 2019.

Plastic bottle seals are harmful to the environment because they are non-degradable and uncollectable. The Pollution Control Department, Thai Beverage Industry Association, and related agencies have collaborated to ban water bottle seals. Boon Rawd Brewery Company Limited, Sermsuk Public Company Limited, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, Nestle Thailand Company Limited, and Carabao Group Public Company Limited already joined the campaign before April 1st.

The Pollution Control Department is urging small drinking water suppliers to discontinue water bottle seals and aiming to remove them nationwide by 2019.

Ban the Seals and other mammals that feel free to discard their plastic trash in the wind and the waves.

It's actually not a bad idea as you can't count on the good folks to place their recyclables in proper containers and then have the infrastructure to actually recycle said plastics.

I have seen so many children unwrap that candy or eat that bag of shrimp chips and just leave it to the wind. I spent a great deal of time picking up this sort of thing around our place and teaching the kids that this is unacceptable behavior.

It reminds me of a nation wide push many years ago in the states where we realized " people start pollution, people can stop it." Give a hoot, don't pollute.

What do you mean " not real", Looks like an American Indian to me. I've worked with and have known several.

Funny thing is awhile back we were doing a project where this young professional from India was asking about American Indians and where he could see some.

I had to laugh and felt like taking him down to the shop so he could meet some. It was if he thought these guys would have a feather in their bandannas as they welded. Ha ha.

Now mabey when back on the reservation they may have a ceremony once in awhile.

    Funny that. Perceptions.

What method will be used to ensure some unscrupulous chink doesn't fill up water bottles from the local well?

Indeed the plastic wrap was used in replacement of tampering-proof bottle cap...does this mean they bottlers will use the later? Or authorities decided to trust sellers and other ? If so what a strange idea....
