A tourist was left covered in blood after he was smashed over the head with an ashtray when he allegedly refused to pay a £32 bill at a Thai strip club. Robert Negas, from the Czech Republic, was drinking with friends at the We are No 1 A Go Go bar in Pattaya in the early hours of the morning when he was glassed.

The 38-year-old allegedly became aggressive and tried to leave the strip club without paying his 1,380 baht (£32) tab for drinks at closing time. Footage shows blood splattered on the floor of the bar as Negas is seen wearing a blood-soaked t-shirt while slumped in a chair with his head bandaged.

Robert Negas, 38, had been drinking with pals at the 'We are No 1 A Go Go' bar in Pattaya, when he was hit with an ashtray

His head was bandaged up as he sat in a blood-soaked t-shirt.

CCTV recording showed half-naked dancers trying to hold back the tourist as he appears to get into a scuffle with manager Anuwat Bunkert and staff. One of the group allegedly smashed Negas over the head with a glass ashtray used for smoking inside the building. But the manager told police it was in self-defence.

He reportedly claimed: "There were four of them. They had a bill for 1,380 baht. But they would not pay and started fighting.
"We hit the man with an ashtray but he started the fight. This was self-defence. The tourists were guilty because they did not pay then started a fight.

Negas slumped on a seat inside the venue.

"My staff were only defending themselves."

Negas was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital where he received treatment to the large cut on his head.
He is still in hospital while sobering up and will be taken to the police station later today for questions, according to local media.

Police said they were investigating Monday's incident by checking CCTV and speaking to each of the people involved through translators.

Stay away from overpriced drinks in Go go bars. You could end up with more than a headache .

It's a horrible bar, I live nearby and stick my head in occasionaly trying to figure out how it's still open. Use to be ok a very long time ago when it was Champion Agogo 2, but it's been a total disaster zone all of this century. Avoid at all costs.
