BANGKOK, 14th March 2018 (NNT) - The BTS Skytrain operator is set to improve station accessibility for handicapped people after a disabled man was unable to use a lift at an elevated BTS station at Asoke intersection in Bangkok.

The Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC) said it would improve its service for people with disabilities after Manit Intarapim, a disabled activist, broke the glass door of an elevator he claimed was always locked.

According to the BTSC, people with disabilities can press a button near an elevator should they need assistance. Manit, however, said passengers with special needs would have to wait until a BTS officer arrived to open the lift doors.

People with disabilities are also required to fill out a form at a BTS station before receiving further assistance. Other passengers can use the lifts without BTS assistance.
