RIP. Lets just hope that her death can't be attributed to the fkkuken dumb idiot rescue workers who always perform CPR with massive chest compression on every fall victim, and thereby possibly exacerbating internal injuries, potentially killing a victim who may otherwise have survived.

Tragedy as young woman dies in fall from balcony on Thai 'trip of a lifetime'

Louise Furey is believed to have fallen to her death from a balcony at her hotel in Thailand

A young woman has died following a tragic accident in Thailand just a few days into the "trip of a lifetime".

Louise Furey, from Glenties, Co Donegal, died after a fall from a balcony at her resort on Friday morning.
Ms Furey had arrived in the country last Wednesday for a holiday and was there with her long-term boyfriend Sam Bulmer.
The 27-year-old was based in Guernsey in the Channel Islands, where she worked with children's services.
Just a few days ago, Ms Furey posted a picture of herself and Mr Bulmer relaxing at their resort, the Replay residence and pool villa on the popular island of Koh Samui.
    Poignant
Her poignant last Facebook post shows a picture of the couple having a drink beside the beach and reads: "Long flight... relaxation time."
A full investigation has been launched by Thai police into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Louise's father Patsy, a well-known Donegal GAA fan, died less than two years ago following an illness.
Family members are understood to have travelled to Thailand in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The local community in Donegal has been plunged into mourning at the death of the popular young woman.
Her mum Breege is a well-known teacher in the Scoil Mhuire National School in the close-knit town.
Ms Furey has one brother, Daniel, and three sisters, Celine, Annie and Rosaleen.
Daniel and one of Ms Furey's sisters are understood to have travelled to Thailand to make arrangements for the return of their sister's body.
Ms Furey was born and grew up on the Ard Patrick estate in Glenties, where former Donegal GAA manager and Celtic coach Jim McGuinness was a close neighbour.

    Numb

Glenties Community Group chairman Brian Carr said the entire town is numb following the news of the tragedy in Thailand.

Louise moved to Guernsey a few years ago but was a frequent visitor home," Mr Carr said.
"You would see herself and her close school friends catching up about what had happened since they last met.
"There was about five or six of them in a very close gang of friends, of which some are also away from home.
"Louise went on what would be called the trip of a lifetime just last Wednesday with her boyfriend Sam to Thailand.
"Unfortunately it is a holiday that has had such a tragic ending. The town is numb and in total shock with such terrible news.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Louise's family at this time," he added.

It happens frequently elsewhere too, particularly to Brit holidaymakers in Spain.

I'm sure the medical help is frequently not the best but let's not blame this on Thailand.

Generally the dangerous combination is of holidays, booze and balconies, wherever the location.

One hopes the floor tiles were non slip and the balcony railing support posts were not termite riddled.

Any word that the couple were having "extravagant sex" when the mishap occurred?

Almost every news report of a fall from a balcony or car crash that has photos or video shows rescue workers doing chest compressions.

When rescue workers qualify for the job by doing an eight hour course, it seems like the only thing they know to do is CPR, and have no idea that trauma victims need support for possible internal injuries, not damaging chest compressions.
    See above.

Yeah, that fall was from the 5th floor and she was alive but broken when found. The video shows rescue worker performing CPR with massive chest compressions. She was dead on arrival at hospital. It's entirely possible the chest compressions caused her death, but of course the fall is blamed and the rescue workers are not educated about the need to NOT do chest compressions on a fall or crash victim.

I said I hope this lass's death was not caused by incompetant rescue workers. But it's on the cards, innit?

I was counting the floors in the Thai way, i.e ground as first then through to fourth. In the UK the top floor would be numbered the third. No fifth floor. As I implied, it's a low-rise structure in keeping with Bo Phut's ethos. A freak accident and terribly unfortunate to end in death.

Death of tourist in Thailand "likely an accident"

    ITV REPORT 23 January 2018 at 4:44pm

Officials in Thailand say they are awaiting results of an autopsy to confirm the cause of death of a woman from Guernsey.

Louise Furey, 27, died after falling from a balcony while on holiday in Koh Samui with her boyfriend, Sam Bulmer.

Ms Furey's body was found at 3am on Saturday 20th January but not reported to Thai police until 3pm, twelve hours later.

Police hope the autopsy result from Bangkok will help to establish what happened.

Timeline of events according to Thai Official Lt. Col Boonnam Srinarat:

Louise and her boyfriend were on staying on the third floor of their hotel. Front desk staff saw them return late at night. Around 3am on Saturday morning, staff heard a loud sound and found Ms Furey on the ground.

When they knocked on the door of her room, it was locked.

They used a key to get in and found Mr Bulmer sleeping.
Badly injured, Louise was taken to the hospital intensive care unit.

Around 3pm on Saturday afternoon, hotel staff informed Thai police.

In a statement, Mr Bulmer said it was incredibly sad that Ms Furey's life had been cut short. Louise was such a wonderful woman whose presence could light up a whole room. She truly was one of a kind. Her passion for her work was incredible.

She touched many lives wherever she has been and certainly mine. It's incredibly sad that this amazing woman has had her life tragically cut short on the holiday that we were both extremely excited about and planned to make so many more memories together.

I would like to thank everyone for the messages that myself and the Furey family have received. They have been absolutely amazing in this time of sadness.

    – SAM BULMER
