A woman, 62, was killed when ingredients used to make fireworks exploded at her house in Suphan Buri on Friday evening.

Police said the explosion at the house of Prayong Phansakul in Moo 2 village in Tambon Phihan of Muang district also damaged almost 10 houses around it.


Prayong, the house owner, was killed in the explosion.


Police said she was hired to mix precursor chemicals for making gunpowder used in fireworks and it accidentally went off.




Police checked the house and found a lot of remaining precursor chemicals.


Suphan Buri governor Nimit Wanchaithanawong has instructed officials to conduct an investigation and take legal action against those who make fireworks without a licence.

The province has seen several explosions due to the unlawful business.
