It's quite difficult to catch the firestarters (in the forest, for the mushrooms) as they use device to delay the fire for hours.

Mae Hong Son to reduce wildfire hot spots by 15%

MAE HONG SON, 22nd February 2018 (NNT) - Governor of Mae Hong Son province Suebsak Iamwicharn has called a meeting of the Committee in charge of Wildfire and Smog Control to address the perennial haze issue.

A wildfire war room has been set up at the Mae Hong Son Provincial Administrative Office. Officials are to strictly enforce a two-month ban on burning, as well as other wildfire prevention measures. Authorities will be on patrol in risk-prone areas to ensure safety.

Governor Suebsak said relevant agencies aim to reduce the number of wildfire hot spots by 15 percent compared to the same period last year. The northern province has requested cooperation from neighboring countries in its campaign to prevent air pollution.

In 2017, the number of wildfire hot spots stood at 1,169. Mae Sariang was reported to have 355 hot spots, the most of any Mae Hong Son district. Wildfires raged through more than 400,000 acres of protected forests and 280 acres of national parks. The fires caused particulate matter of less than 10 micrometers in diameter (PM10) to shroud the northern province for 18 days and leading to eight flight cancellations.

Yeah, because no-one would be dumb enough to post a photograph on a public forum that would easily allow someone with contacts in Bangkok Airways to identify them..... would they?

But they're not. They are just saying they are going to.

If you knew jack shit about Thailand Jeff, you'd realise that means precisely squit.

They'll do fuck all but the odd cursory arrest, but still announce figures in May saying they achieved their target.

    Who's fucking checking?

They've had AQI monitors for years. And they've been caught spraying them with hoses when its bad.

Then again, they bought bomb detectors once as well.

My comments were obviously create in slight jest, Harry.
I quite recognize the most deepest of Thai rhetoric that fashions itself - institutional or everyday personal.
All apart of the sideshow, and acceptance, that exist here everyday.

You would know not to take all so seriously, if you were a long-time resident and everyday observer of things Thai.
It's the true outsider and occasional holiday-maker that really doesn't understand nor connect with. Making shit up as they go.

More curious, how all these local issues and affairs are a concern of your ilk and how such things effect your life [because they don't].
Puzzling. As you really haven't a clue, yet go on as if you do.

Lampang stages campaign against air pollution

LAMPANG, 23rd February 2018 (NNT) - Various sectors in the northern province of Lampang have jointly staged a campaign urging the people to help prevent the risk of wildfires and haze.

The activity, led by Governor Songpol Sawattham and joined by more than 800 people, took place at Kelang Nakhon Public Park in the capital district. Today’s event featured an exhibition on the impact of wildfires and haze, and a student drawing contest on the theme of air pollution.

The Governor of Lampang chaired the award ceremony for the contest's winners, then despatched a parade of campaigners to different areas. The campaigners raised awareness of the impact of wildfire and haze problems and called for public participation in the ban on burning-off.

The activity was also held to observe the anti-wildfire day, which is celebrated on February 24th.

More likely the western snowflakes demanding an alien environment that the locals have prospered in for centuries. One wonders how Thais have survied all the temp. inversions without all this "assitance" from our overseas "experts".
