Lab test results in case against ‘Sek Leso’ to be made public on Wednesday: police

    January 02, 2018 19:52 By The Nation

The investigation in the case involving controversial rock star Seksan Sukphimai – or “Sek Loso” – continues, with police stating on Tuesday that the final results of his urine test will be made known tomorrow.Seksan, who was brought to Phrom Kiri police station in Nakhon Si Thammarat to face charges of discharging a firearm in public and illegally possessing an unregistered gun, is reported to be calm following his arrest last Friday, while his private lawyer Mongkolwijit Tanasophol has prepared the sum of Bt150,000 for bailing him at Nakhon Si Thammarat Court.

The singer has been charged on four counts: possessing an illegal gun and ammunition, carrying a gun in public without a justifiable reason, shooting in public without justifiable reason, and resisting a police operation.Pol Colonel Sing Singhadet, police superintendent for Khan Na Yao district in Bangkok, disclosed in an update of the investigation that the forensic team of Police General Hospital would conclude the laboratory examination of Seksan’s urine sample today, which would clearly show whether or not the positive result of his initial test for narcotics was from methamphetamine consumption.

His urine sample turned purple in the preliminary narcotics test, but Seksan insisted that he had only consumed sleeping pills. However, Sing said that neither sleeping pills nor narcotics had been found during a search of the rock star’s house. The superintendent also said that a person had made an ownership claim to the police on the gun that Seksan had used during the police raid at his house, but the police did not believe the claim and were still investigating the weapon’s ownership. Sing also did not confirm a report that a person had been injured in the random shooting by Seksan on Friday in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

In a separate case, Pak Chong district police in Nakhon Ratchasima arrested Anucha Sukkaew, a 24-year-old man who was seen shooting a gun skywards on Facebook live, and charged him with discharging a firearm in public and illegally possessing an unregistered gun. Anucha confessed that he used his father’s gun to shoot four times into the sky by way of celebration during a countdown party on New Year’s Eve. His sister recorded the act on Facebook live, with the video later going viral on social media – and now being used as evidence of his alleged crime.

Sek Loso’s drug test comes up positive for methamphetamine

    January 03, 2018 | By Thai PBS

Urine test conducted on the controversial rocker Sek Loso by the Police General Hospital confirmed positive to methamphetamine, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau Pol Lt Gen Charnthep Sesavej , disclosed on Wednesday (Jan 3).

He said the Institute of Forensic Science has reported the urine test result for Sek Loso or Seksan Sukphimai confirmed positive to methamphetamine in the form of crystal meth or ice, and Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as ecstasy.

Ecstasy is a psychoactive drug used primarily as a recreational drug. The desired recreational effects include increased empathy, euphoria, and heightened sensations.

The commissioner said that the next step that the police would take was for the Khan Na Yao police station in Bangkok to file drug charges against him, in addition to charges of resisting arrest, and having gun in possession.

Sek is now detained at Phrom Khiri police station in Nakhon Si Thammarat for shooting into the air and having and carrying gun in public places.

He was escorted to Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Court today to seek the court’s permission for 12-day extended detention.

His lawyer said he would pose bail for the temporary release of his client from the court.

Sek freed on 150,000 baht bail by court despite police protest

    January 03, 2018 | By Thai PBS

The Nakhon Si Thammarat provincial court on Wednesday (Jan 3) ordered the release of rocker Sek Loso or Seksan Sukphimai on 150,000 baht bail despite opposition from Phrom Khiri police.

After his release, Sek offered an apology to the people in Nakhon Si Thammarat for not being a good model for youngsters over his shooting during a concert at a temple in the province on the night of Dec 29.

Accompanied by his lawyer, the controversial rock star immediately left the province for his home in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Khan Na Yao police have issued a summons for Sek to report to the Khan Na Yao police station next week to acknowledge the charge of drug abuse after his urine was tested positive for use of methamphetamine.

Pol Col Singh Singthong, superintendent of Khan Na Yao police, said Sek had denied using methamphetamine, claiming that his urine was tested positive because of his sleeping pills. However, the Police General Hospital has confirmed the test result.

He said, about six years ago, Sek was tested positive for drug abuse and, for that matter, he committed similar offence twice and would face the charge of drug abuse and was not eligible to drug rehabilitation.

Police will investigate how Sek got hold of the illicit drug, he added.

Narcotics officials have information about Sek Loso’s drugs supplier

    January 04, 2018 | By Thai PBS

Narcotics officials have the information about the persons who have been supplying narcotics drugs to rocker Seksan Sukpimai, alias Sek Loso, said Sirinya Sidthichai, secretary-general of the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), on Thursday (Jan 4).

Mr Sirinya refused to disclose more information about the drug supplier, but noted that narcotics officials had found out that some people in the entertainment business were involved in drug use, but their numbers were still small.

As for Sek Loso who was tested positive for methamphetamine, he explained that the rocker did not qualify to be exempted from criminal litigation even though he volunteered to undergo rehabilitation because he has other charges pending against him, including carrying firearms in the public, firing a gun in public and resisting police arrest.

The rock star is required to meet with Khan Na Yao police on Jan 12 as summonsed by the police for interrogation on drug abuse charge. In addition, a handful of witnesses, including Sek’s girlfriend, will be summonsed for questioning.

Sek was arrested at his home in Bangkok on Dec 31 for carrying firearm and shooting in the public in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on Dec 29. He also tested positive for narcotic drugs.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police has launched a fact-finding into a party reportedly hosted by Sek after his release on bail in Nakhon Si Thammarat on Wednesday (Jan 3).

Video clips of the party has been circulated on the social media showing several police officers joining the party with Sek, including the superintendent and the inspectors.

Rock star Sek Loso’s ‘pals’ in uniform face investigation

    January 05, 2018 12:17
    By The Nation

Police officers in two far-flung jurisdictions are in trouble after photos appeared online of them being chummy with bail-bouncing rock star Seksan “Sek Loso” Sukphimai.

Cops in Bangkok and Nakhon Si Thammarat evidently couldn’t resist the celebrity allure, despite the fact that he’s accused of firing a pistol into the air at a temple and had methamphetamine and ecstasy in his system when arrested and tested.

Royal Thai Police deputy spokesman Pol Colonel Krissana Patanacharoen said on Friday that Pol Maj General Wanchai Ekpornpit – the police chief in Nakhon Si Thammarat, home to the temple where Seksan fired nine rounds into the sky in his own live-online broadcast – had set up a fact-finding committee to determine why his officers were partying with the rock star.

In Bangkok, Khan Na Yao police superintendent Pol Colonel Sing Singhadet has been transferred to an inactive post pending the results of an investigation into a photo of Seksan and him.
Seksan is charged with carrying and discharging a firearm in public and illegally possessing an unregistered gun.

He flaunted the evidence in a Facebook Live broadcast last Friday and was arrested at his home in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district after an armed confrontation with police, resulting in the additional charge of resisting arrest.

A Bangkok court granted bail so he could answer the warrant for his arrest in the South.

There, Seksan allegedly confessed to carrying and discharging his gun, but insisted he legally owned it and it was registered.
The Nakhon Si Thammarat court granted bail on a Bt150,000 guarantee so he could return to Bangkok to respond to a further charge of drug abuse based on the findings of a urine test. Seksan blamed the test results on sleeping pills.

Somewhere on his travels, Seksan stopped to dine with police officers at a Nakhon Si Thammarat restaurant and swiftly posted cheery photos of the event on Instagram.
Viewers complained that such chumminess on the part of the police was inappropriate and undermined public confidence in their neutrality in the investigation.
Krissana identified Seksan’s fellow diners as superintendent Pol Colonel Rangsan Sukkua and Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat inspector Pol Lt Colonel Theerapol Phumchai, and said they too are now in inactive posts and under investigation.

In Bangkok, Pol Colonel Sing is being asked why his picture also appeared on Instagram with Seksan, posed casually over a table laden with food and beverages, complete with a message from the rocker thanking the officers for “helping things to be easier”.

Sing, seen in the photo making a thumbs-up gesture, said it was taken in his precinct’s investigation room at 7am on January 1 – before the drug-test results were known and before Seksan was brought up to apply for detention.

The beverages were neither alcoholic nor ordered for Seksan, he said. They’d been left there by police officers using the room earlier.

Sing said the photo was taken when two visitors arrived to see Seksan, as was their right – Pol Maj General Prasopchoke Prommul, who had put Seksan in drug rehab in 2011, and an executive from Grammy Entertainment.

Metropolitan Police Area 2 chief Pol Maj General Ekkachai Boonwisut on Friday nevertheless notified Bangkok police chief Pol Lt General Chanthep Sesawet that Sing would face a probe and had meanwhile been transferred to Metropolitan Police Area 2 Office.

Perhaps if you put up the correct photo that goes with the story it would be easier to follow. Its not that hard.

Sek Loso fails to show up to acknowledge drug charge

Rock singer Sek Loso did not show up to acknowledge drug abuse charge at Khan Na Yao police station in Bangkok today (Jan 12), claiming that he had some important things to do.

Khan Na Yao police station summoned Sek or Seksan Sukphimai to acknowledge drug abuse charge today, but Sek appointed his lawyer Mongkholwichit Thanasophon to see the police and asked for permission to turn himself in on Jan 17 instead.

Sek was arrested in his home in Bangkok on Dec 31 on firearm charges. A subsequent urine test found that he tested positive to methamphetamine and ecstasy.

However, his lawyer said Sek had insisted he didn’t take drug and was ready to prove himself in court.

The lawyer said his client would like to apologize police officers in Nakhon Si Thammarst for landing them into trouble.

Two Nakhon Si Thammarat police officers are facing disciplinary probe after they appeared in a party with Sek after he was granted bail by the provincial court.
