North Korea said to be testing anthrax-tipped ballistic missiles

SEOUL--North Korea has begun tests to load anthrax onto intercontinental ballistic missiles, according to an intelligence source here.

The United States also has come to the same conclusion. The White House, in its new National Security Strategy issued Dec. 18, stated that North Korea is pursuing "nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that could threaten our homeland.”

The source in South Korea said Pyongyang is conducting heat and pressure resistance tests to see whether anthrax germs can survive at temperatures of 7,000 degrees or higher, the level an ICBM encounters when it re-enters Earth’s atmosphere.

There was an unconfirmed intelligence report that North Korea has already succeeded in such experiments.
Washington had apparently been aware for some time that North Korea is culturing anthrax.

That, according to a former U.S. government official, is the reason U.S. troops in South Korea have been vaccinated against smallpox and anthrax since around 2004.

In May 2011, the United States and South Korea carried out their first joint map exercise to deal with a terror attack using biological weapons.

The source in Seoul said Pyongyang is likely seeking to develop ICBMs loaded with anthrax because its nuclear-tipped ICBMs have yet to attain full-fledged capability to strike all of the U.S. mainland.

N.K. rejects claim it is developing biological weapons

SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Wednesday rejected U.S. allegations that it is developing biological weapons, saying that the claim is part of Washington's scheme to stifle the regime.

The Trump government's first National Security Strategy released Monday said that the North is pursuing chemical and biological weapons that could also be delivered by missile.

"The DPRK, as a state party to the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), maintains its consistent stand to oppose development, manufacture, stockpiling and possession of biological weapons," the North's Institute for American Studies, affiliated with the foreign ministry, was quoted as saying by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The DPRK is the abbreviation for North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The North became a BWC signatory in 1987.

The institute said that the "groundless" claim by U.S. experts and media is nothing but the country's move to isolate Pyongyang and justify its sanctions and pressure on the regime.

"The more the U.S. clings to the anti-DPRK stifling move...,the more hardened the determination of our entire military personnel and people to take revenge will be...," the report said.

Pyongyang is estimated to have 13 types of pathogens such as anthrax and clostridium botulinum that can be used as biological weapons, according to a 2016 report by the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses.

    Anthrax-tipped?
Try nuclear-tipped, it scares people more.
How much of this military intelligence on North Korea is just made up?
Still, the U.S is making a fortune selling anti-missile launch systems.

The DPRK source of the Anthrax spores is that delivered by NATO during the last Korean war.

Yep. They've done orphans and homeless old people, sick soldiers, beaten prisoners... I think you're right, it's time for a cruelty to animals story. Really need to get the western public hating these guys.
Or possibly it will be about repressed homosexuals since gay rights is quite current.
That's my two picks, animals or gays.

Too many threats and counter measures. Could be just a matter of time before things escalate. BOOM!

A lot of things could go wrong because people keep choosing/following leaders with loads of issues/baggages.

    Fook orf eh.

It won't kick off though simply because Fatboy realizes his shitty little country will be blown from the face of this Earth and rightly so.

Yep. It just leads to endless dull sequels. We've been here over and over, the only thing that will happen is that politicians will posture and paranoid fools like harry will quote fake stats. Same same no different.

The 2001 anthrax attacks, also known as Amerithrax from its Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) case name, occurred within the United States over the course of several weeks beginning on September 18, 2001, one week after the September 11 attacks. Letters containing anthrax spores were mailed to several news media offices and two Democratic U.S. Senators (Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy), killing 5 people and infecting 17 others. According to the FBI, the ensuing investigation became "one of the largest and most complex in the history of law enforcement."[1]

A major focus in the early years of the investigation was a bio-weapons expert named Steven Hatfill, who was eventually exonerated. Another suspect, Bruce Edwards Ivins, became a focus of investigation around April 4, 2005. Ivins was a scientist who worked at the government's biodefense labs at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. On April 11, 2007, Ivins was put under periodic surveillance and an FBI document stated that "Bruce Edwards Ivins is an extremely sensitive suspect in the 2001 anthrax attacks."[2] On July 29, 2008, Ivins committed suicide with an overdose of acetaminophen.[3]

    Investigation

A reward for information totalling $2.5 million is being offered by the FBI, U.S. Postal Service and ADVO, Inc.
Authorities traveled to six continents, interviewed over 9,000 people, conducted 67 searches and issued over 6,000 subpoenas. "Hundreds of FBI personnel worked the case at the outset, struggling to discern whether the Sept. 11 al-Qaeda attacks and the anthrax murders were connected before eventually concluding that they were not."[72] In September 2006, there were still 17 FBI agents and 10 postal inspectors assigned to the case, including FBI Special Agent C. Frank Figliuzzi who was the on-scene commander of the evidence recovery efforts.[citation needed]

    Anthrax archive destroyed
The FBI and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) both gave permission for Iowa State University to destroy the Iowa anthrax archive, and the archive was destroyed on October 10 and 11, 2001.[73]

The FBI and CDC investigation has been hampered by the destruction of a large collection of anthrax spores collected over more than seven decades and kept in more than 100 vials at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. Many scientists claim that the quick destruction of the anthrax spores collection in Iowa eliminated crucial evidence useful for the investigation.

Al-Qaeda and Iraq blamed for attacks
Immediately after the anthrax attacks, White House officials repeatedly pressured FBI Director Robert Mueller to prove that they were a second-wave assault by al-Qaeda following the September 11 attacks.

On August 1, 2008, the Associated Press reported that Bruce E. Ivins, 62, who worked for the past eighteen years at the government's bio defense labs at Fort Detrick, had apparently committed suicide. Ivins was a top U.S. biodefense researcher who worked at Ft. Detrick.

LOL - most of the worlds weaponised Anthrax is held in the US military's bio-weapons labs. They did it themselves, probably to test it.
