Thread: New Year's Eve prayers to be held at Buddhist temples nationwide, worldwide

BANGKOK, 20 December 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Culture will organize New Year's Eve prayers at Buddhist temples nationwide and worldwide.

Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat said the ministry is cooperating with other government agencies and private firms to arrange activities during the New Year holiday.

The highlights will be the New Year's Eve prayers at all Buddhist temples across the country and the world on 31 December 2017, as well as a tour to 10 temples in Bangkok on 31 December 2017 and 1 January 2018.

Buddha statues from important temples in Bangkok will be put out at the National Museum on 29 December 2017 - 31 January 2018 for the general public to pay their homage.

The national museum and historic parks will be open with free admission on 30 December 2017 - 2 January 2017. Visitors during this period will also receive special commemorative postcards. Special Khon performance on the Ramayana epic will be performed at the Royal Crematorium on 30-31 December 2017.

The general public are encouraged to send Thai products and gifts, with online marketplaces available on Culture Market : ???????. Local performances will also be arranged in all 76 provinces until the year's end.

Night at Maya City activity will be held during 26-28 December 2017, while the Thai Film Archive will hold a New Year's Eve screening program in the evening of 31 December 2017.

A contemporary art exhibition entitled "City of Arts: Krabi, Korat, Chiang Rai will take place during 14-29 December 2017, followed by a display of handicraft from Bangsai Arts and Crafts Center during 3-22 January 2018 at Rajdumnern Contemporary Art Center, Bangkok.
