They obscure data by manipulating the criteria. I believe they still exclude deaths arising from RTAs if the death occurs after overnight hospitalisation. DOAs and in situ deaths make the annual count but even then collection is suspect.

The international institutions habitually record the death count to be in the region of 26,000+ annually.

I heard that a group of Thai people gathered in front of LTD cheering "Thailand number ooone"... and demanding that a new hub was set up accordingly.

They have a methodology of collecting data from different sources: for example Thai Highways and Thai Health Service have different totals. Then they adjust for how each country counts, or doesn't count, victims. Then they add a subjective adjustment based on reputed expert assessments. Probably it is the best SWAG available. That last report gave the Thai death count as 24,237 persons.

As a cyclist in a rural environment things are so bad I'm now in the process of obtaining a helmet cam to make sure that when shit happens, and it undoubtedly will, I can take action against the cnut that I have an accident with.

CCTV footage showed the car - driven by a doctor attached to the department of public health - running over the security man who had been closing a gate against traffic.

The guard was shown under the wheels of the car. The driver makes no effort to get out.

He just keeps going over the man dragging him along the road.

The guard is in a coma after two operations on his brain to try and save his life. He was named as Somchai "Nat" Yamdee who also works at the department of public health. He is usually stationed at gate 4 but was on his way to gate 2.

Reporters at the scene noticed damage to a pillar and the gate itself. The front of the car was seen severely dented.

Friends of the victim issued a statement saying that Nat had been in his job for four years and always helped others.

They said that the driver of the car is a famous doctor:

The incident happened on Friday.

The department of public health identified the driver as Dr Yorn Chiranakhon, who reportedly refused a breathalyser test at the scene, despite admitting his involvement in the accident.

Police said they will charge Dr Yorn with drunk driving, reckless driving and causing injury.

Many called for the doctor to be immediately barred from practice.

I'd suggest you wear the proper cycling attire as demonstrated by these nitwits.

That way said women on motosais will fall off laughing before they reach you, thus allowing you safe passage.

What action would you take? I got hit by a bus, spun 540 degrees ending up in my lane facing the other way against his front offside also in my lane. Fortunately I had respectable Thais in my car as witnesses + pics showed the bus clearly in my lane, and best I could get was knock for knock. No Thais and it would have been down to me.

In rural parts a cam is better than no cam, but you would still have a tough job with action against a local retard esp as most families are connected with the bib or other officials and those that aren't have nothing to lose.

I see your point but if there is any chance of taking action against the wanker that causes the accident then I will. I too have been involved in accidents due to Thai stupidity. I even posted a dashcam video of one on here. I didn't get anywhere with regards to the other motorist getting prosecuted but I didn't get prosecuted either even though I hit the motorcyclist from behind. If I hadn't had the dashcam them I'm sure I would have been.

A friend and neighbour recently got clattered from behind by a woman on a motorcy. She was texting while riding..
