Thai Embassy warns about tourist scams in Turkey

The Thai Embassy in Turkey has warned Thai nationals of possible fraud scams, particularly overcharging for meals, after the number of cases have increased.

The Embassy said on its Facebook page that there has been a recent hike in the number of tourists, including Thais visiting Istanbul, who have been cheated in many ways by local people.

Most of the cases happened in crowded tourist sites like Sultanahmet and Taksim Square, where local people befriended foreigners and persuaded them to have joined them for a restaurant meal or to visit a bar.

I'm thinking of holidaying in Turkey next year and a few over priced meals won't put me off. Surely there are scams in every country and why are Turkish people targeting just Thais? Maybe someone at the Thai embassy must have a personal grudge?

Just come back and not a bit of it
apart from some fella trying to get me to go to his carpet shop who I told to politely fuck off, not even the remotest
I believe the taxis can be a bit dodgy but a friendlier bunch, and especially helpful in the ressies I've scarce come across
my missus had no bother, though a friends missus who went separately was apparently chatted up 200 times a day (charmers apparently)

considering there's no visas required for Thai's, its comparably as expensive as here, and the climate is great
I hope a few Thai's getting Patpong market experience don't put them off
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

without using too wide a brush I'm afraid the local ladies look like slappers, or female fair ground attendants
they're not unattractive in a Friday night 8 pints way but there's a sense of market chic
    beats a burqa though
