Garbage-strewn scene at Jomtien Beach after floodwater drains out to sea

Garbage-strewn scene at Jomtien Beach after floodwater drains out to sea-98a63924cbe3add7c066d31551a8ba4f-jpg

Several foreigners still sunbathed on Jomtien Beach in Chon Buri province on Monday despite the garbage strewn across many parts of the beach following downpour-induced floods.

“When the floodwater drained out to sea, it brought along garbage. Waves then brought the garbage ashore,” said Santi Thianthong, operator of a beach-bed rental business. Another operator, Chatwarin Wongthong, said the authorities should help clean up the beach, or else Jomtien’s image would be negatively affected.

'tis a tad bit late to be worryin' about Jomtien's stellar, or is it "soiled" image.

I just arrived back from OZ and spent a few days on a beach there just north of Sydney.

Absolutely pristine, the sand pure white with the surf being absolutely clean.

To think that some tourists come here for the beaches is horrific.

I wonder how much of that is pie wrappers.

Certainly more than there are around any orphanages, anyway.

Pass the buck, add Jomtien to the no-smoking beach list.

Look at the fools lounging in the midst of the trash and no doubt several hypodermic needles and used condoms.

    Every little helps.

To prevent throwing cigarette butts into the sea, Jatuporn said he would seek cooperation from the Marine Department to ban smoking on boats.

Have they got that incinerator on Samui working yet? It's been several years now since it broke down which is quite surprising when one considers just how conscientious the Thai are in protecting their environment and how they will not sacrifice their principles for the sake of some piffling commercial advantage............

They are Russians from the hinterland of Siberia and east of the Urals - I should imagine the trash makes them nostalgic for home.

A couple of weeks ago there was 30 thousand tons of rubbish on Koh Larn, probably floated over or dumped from there.

Too bad you were a criminal and got deported.
My childhood was in Avalon. Barton Lynch was in my older brother's class and lived next door to my great aunts on Whale Beach.
Yeah, great place. Family still there.

Avalon, nice beach and good for surfing.

    They only deport overstayers.

My guess is he was on a one year working visa and didn't want to return to some shitty kabutz so he went off grid and under the radar selling his batty in Sydneys Kings X till he got caught by the BIB. The rest is history

Manly is hardly classed as northern beaches you geography 'tard, it's classed as a Sydney City Beach.

Probably one of those backpackers who spent the whole 12 month visa in Sydney in backpacker bars and thought he'd seen Australia by getting the ferry to Manly
