The Farang probably had it comin' anyway - as they usually deserve it.

A good pounding just for good measure.

I don't get the nuance between "trying to run over" and "trying to run over because the guy was standing in front of his car"...

The site said it was a มีดอีโต้ which is the long and large knife you see being used every day by fruit vendors to split open coconuts etc. One slash of that across your arm will cause a very nasty gash.
The Aussie Brit was not defending himself- he ran to the back of his car to grab the knife , then ran towards the Thai guy and his car. None of that was necessary.
Regarding giving the Thai guy time to move- watch the video on the previous page, Coconuts site- the Aussie/Brit jumps into his car and immediately moves forward, trying to run over the Thai guy. The Thai guy has no time to move.

...is really British national George Collins, 77

He really is an old coont to be taking punishment like that sucker punch.

...I was born in Walsall though I lived in Queensland for a while

...Collins - who speaks with an Australian accent

Must have been in QLD from an early age to pick up the accent.

I still can't think there is more to this story than the Aussie going up to the Thai with a machete. It's been stated that the Thai guy was causing some kind of traffic problem with the Aussie and he lost the plot. I think it was reported that the Thai guy cut the Aussie off and or hit his car and THAT is what started all of the problems.

The old farang is now getting charged with attempted murder and the Thai obviously smelling some easy baht has said he will push this all the way.

To sucker punch the old guy while he was having a conversation with a cop just goes to show the complete lack of fear and respect Thais have for the BIB.

That daft old fock has been here long enough to know what'll happen if you fuck with a Thai on the street. Hes lucky eight of them never landed on him and beheaded the fuckn idiot and in front of his daughter too.

He's a good chance of doing some time in jail now then getting deported although in his words hes still spending the rest of his life in Thailand.

Its his poor little daughter that I pity

Tragic for the kid who''ll be really old by the time he pays em off.

A Mr Earl of Urine Crescent wrote me there's a splendid scheme sending pies to jail to distressed mental folk by violent mongers abroad charity.

I doubt the Aussie guy will spend any real time in jail at all. A 30 something BOY whacks a 72 year old man and knocks him out should go to jail.

I say BOY because the Thai started the whole problem to begin with and is just trying to cover his own ass. Thai MALES are so immature in their thinking and cannot lose face. FACE is the NUMBER ONE problem in this country.

Thais will say they cannot speak English because they are AFRAID of making a MISTAKE, I say they make a bigger MISTAKE by not TRYING. YOU only make MISTAKES by NOT trying.

Threaten my life with a machete and I'd punch your lights out too.

What an angry old bastard. Hope he gets deported.

I felt very sad for the 9 year old daughter to be exposed to all this.

I am usually, naturally biased *ever so farkin' slightly towards my Farang brethren, but in this case, I just can't see any excuse or valid reason for the bloke's behavior
and dare I say he deserved what he got. Under other circumstances I would say hitting an old bloke is dead wrong, but he had it coming IMO.

^ No one deserves to be sucker punched.

    Sucker punch
    Noun.

This word describes the action of one person striking another wherein the attacker takes the victim completely by surprise. The act is intentional and employed by the attacker to gain an advantage over a victim. Often times, the victim likely did not have his guard up; was trying to avoid an argument/fight; did not want to fight.

IMO an utterly unnecessary and cowardly action.

Sadly the kids more likely to have seen enough crap already, living in such a shithole.

I saw a Thai bloke beating his woman in the park once...I too, stepped in to help......

    Poor woman.

Yes and at that age (and being a resident) he should have known better than to grab a machete and confront a local, and try to run him over. You're right that sucker punches are a dog act, but a good way to avoid them is NOT to do what this silly old fucker did. As has been pointed out, he's lucky to have only copped one punch to the face because he could so easily be dead instead.

I couldn't view the videos in the OP and I don't know if that ^ is in it so here's a video on Youtube that shows some of it.

If the old man had done what he did to you would you have king hit him or sucker punched him?
Even if the man was out of order, which he was can you really justify the actions of the young fit fella?
It was totally unnecessary regardless of what had transpired previously.

Whilst I agree TIT but one would hope that the young fella is punished for his attack which could so easily killed the old bloke. Just my view.

You don't think going for someone with a machete justifies getting punched?

    On the basis of age?

    Seriously?
