Labor Minister orders investigation into complication of employing highland people

BANGKOK, 21 September 2017 (NNT) – The Minister of Labor has instructed Labor Ministry officials to investigate into the claim that employers do not receive convenience on submitting work permit application for highland people.

Employment Department Director General Waranon Peetiwan said there is an online news report indicating how employers wishing to employ highland people have faced procedural complication and unclarity in operation.

Labor Minister Gen. Sirichai Ditthakul has instructed relevant officials to investigate into the claim and provide convenience to employers wishing to employ highland people, said Mr. Waranon.

Mr. Waranon that the highlanders can do all types of work to cope with the current labor shortage, but they cannot own a business. The request for work permit can be submitted to the provincial employment office where the workplace is located at.

The Ministry of Labor has confirmed that no liability can be denied if it is within the authority of responsible agencies, he said.

In PI, we have a system/way to accommodate the Tribal People, their customs, beliefs and tradition.

Frankly speaking, they are given more opportunities by the government than a regular Flipper.

    Who are the highland people?
    The Scots.

Very understandable that the employment process is complicated.

    Bunch of skirt-wearing, haggis-eating skinflints.
