Fallen iron gate crushes grandma to death

AN 84-year-old grandma was killed this morning (Sept. 7) while opening the front gate of her home in the northern Thai province of Chiang Rai, Sanook.com reported.

A passer-by called police after finding the woman’s body under the iron gate. She was alone in the house when the accident happened.

A neighbor told the police that he did see her body while driving past the house. “I thought she called a mechanic to fix the gate,” he said. “I was shocked after learning that she was killed.”

Sad. A lot of these large sliding gates have no lateral support when partially open.

^A few kids have died playing on these types of gate. Poor design vs heavy weight of the gate itself.
