Flood strikes Koh Lipe in Satun
SATUN, 12th August 2017 (NNT) - Days of heavy rain in Satun have triggered a flood that is striking the southern province’s resort island Koh Lipe.
Police officers of Koh Lipe Police Station have rushed to flood-torn areas to help the villagers move their belongings to higher ground. The deluge has reportedly swamped the roads leading to a luxury resort and two villages.
Accumulated rainwater over the past four days has brought on the flood that has put some areas more than half a meter underwater. Police have asked the administrative sector to send water pumps to carry out drainage.
Cloudy weather continues on the island.
